Demi Lovato: Barbie’s Should Be Curvy Like Me

Demi Lovato is on a spontaneous mission to challenge society’s ideals regarding the female form and body image expectations and standards, starting with Barbie dolls.

And now she’s mobilizing her base of Lovatics to assist in this tide change.

“1 of my biggest dreams, having collected Barbies since I was a kid, is to have my own Barbie BUT with my actual body type…Weight & height,” Demi tweeted to her followers, a total of 14.6 million.

“Lovatics!!! Blow up @BarbieStyle to make it happen!!!! That would be one dope 21st birthday!! Hahaha”

She even insists that the mythical Barbiemakers challenge themselves and include a little bit of jelly on its rubbery ligaments, calling for the dolls to have cellulite because “after all, around 95% of ALL women have it!!!”

It’s been a common criticism of the popular figurine since it was created back in 1959. According to studies, if the toy were reconfigured into a human-size scale (and you were to say the same magic spell from Life Size starring Tyra Banks), Barbie would be unable to stand upright or support her own over-sized head. She wouldn’t even be able to digest food whatsoever considering the size of her waist defies the laws of nature altogether (16-inches isn’t quite enough to harbor a human’s lower intestines), but then again this isn’t a very realistic problem assuming Barbies don’t eat. But than again, it's just a plastic doll for make believe.

Let’s see if Mattel grants Demi her birthday wish on August 20.
