And no, it's not because he's a gay lawyer and they both want to live in a fabulous apartment in NYC.
Debra Messing and her now estranged husband, Daniel Zelman, recently announced their split. But that doesn't mean they can't be roommates.
"The separation was entirely mutual," a rep for the former couple tells Us Weekly. "They have been a couple for twenty years.”
Woah, twenty years? That's like 100 in Hollywood years. What happened?
“The nature of their relationship simply changed over time,” the rep says.
Yeeeah, I'm going with gay lawyer.
The reason they're still living under the same roof is for the sake of their 7 year-old son, Roman. The family was even recently photographed engaging in a festive holiday outing.
"In the short term they plan on continuing to live together with their son, then gradually transition into a new living situation. They have no immediate plans for divorce."
Debra and Daniel recently moved to New York City, where Debra has been filming her new series, Smash.
Smash is a musical TV show from NBC, which focuses on the making of a new Broadway musical inspired by Marilyn Monroe.
“It's kind of like 'A Chorus Line,' but behind the scenes,” Messing explained of the series. “I play a lyricist of the musical and it's going to follow the ins and outs of Broadway.”
The series also stars American Idol alum Katherine McPhee, and it has another pretty big name behind it.
“It's by Steven Spielberg and the people who produced the movie 'Chicago',” Messing says.
