And here I thought people waited until after the holidays to break up, so they could at least cash in on some presents. But first Kobe, and now the chick from Will and Grace.
Debra Messing and her husband of ten years, Daniel Zelman, have officially announced their split.
"Debra Messing and Daniel Zelman privately separated earlier this year after a 10 year marriage," Messing's rep tells Us Weekly in a statement.
The rep continued that “the decision was mutual, and they remain supportive of one another and committed to raising their son as a family."
Just once, I want to hear a rep say, “they hate each others guts and are probably going to resort to some childish, backstabbing behavior in the coming weeks.”
Messing and Zelman, a TV producer, met years ago while studying at New York University. They tied the knot in 2000 and have a 7 year-old son, Roman. Although they’re planning to divorce, Messing continues to live with Zelman in NYC, for the sake of their son.
"They have been separated the better part of the year but continue to live together in New York for Roman," explains the source. "It's very amicable."
Must be, because the couple was photographed as recent as Halloween. They dressed up in matching costumes for Bette Midler’s annual bash in New York City.
Messing even recently discussed the family’s plans for the holidays:
“We love to go skating at Wolman rink, and go see plays -- musicals specifically. Waiting for the snow to come. Looking forward to putting on the snowsuit and stomping through Central Park."
