Sydney Pollack Dies of Cancer

Oscar-winning director Sydney Pollack died on Monday of cancer at his Pacific Palisades’ home, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Pollack was surrounded by close friends and family at his home when he passed, according to his publicist Leslee Dart. She also confirmed that he had been diagnosed with cancer ten months ago and was receiving treatment.

"Sydney made the world a little better, movies a little better and even dinner a little better," said George Clooney, who worked with him in 2007's Michael Clayton.
