Moses Hightower is gone. “Police Academy” star Charles Aaron Smith, better known as Bubba Smith, was found dead in his Los Angeles home on Wednesday morning. He was believed to have passed away from natural causes at just 66 years old.
Bubba was an N.F.L star, an actor and a legend. A spokesman for the Los Angeles County coroner’s office said, “There is no indication of anything other than natural death."
Bubba stood 6-foot-8 and was the number one draft pick for the Baltimore Colts in 1967. He spent nine seasons playing in the NFL before retiring in 1976.
After retiring from the NFL he went into acting and stared in the short-lived TV crime series “Blue Thunder”. He also made cameos on “Good Times,” “Charlie’s Angeles,” “Married with Children” and “Family Matters.”
But he was best known for his role as Moses Hightower in the comedy “Police Academy” and the sequels.
Rest in peace Bubba, you’ll be missed.
