Hollywood legend Tony Curtis, best known for his role in 'Some Like it Hot' with Marilyn Monroe has passed away at 85, his daughter Jamie Lee Curtis confirmed.
The cause was cardiac arrest in his Las Vegas home early Wednesday, the Clark County coroner told the Associated Press.
He married six times throughout his life, and is survived by his wife Jill Vandenberg Curtis, whom he wed in 1998.
Tony stared in over 150 movies during his long career and received an Academy Award nomination in 1959 for his role in Stanley Kramer’s ‘The Defiant Ones’ alongside Sidney Poitier.
Tony fathered Jamie Lee and Kelly Curtis with actress Janet Leigh and had two other children with his ‘Taras Bulba’ co-star Christine Kaufmann. After he separated from Christine, he married Leslie Allen and had two more children with her; however, his son Nicholas died from heroin overdose at 23.
Tony's health had begun to deteriorate in recent years, and in 2006 he nearly died of pneumonia, leading him to need a wheelchair and only able to walk short distances.
Our condolences to his family, children and friends. You'll be missed Tony!
