The music world lost a legend on Thursday. Donna Summer, affectionately termed the "Queen of Disco," passed away at the age of 63 after a loosing battle with cancer.

No further details concerning her death or an autopsy have been released, but plans for her funeral have been released. The family has scheduled a memorial for the “Last Dance” singer to take place next Wednesday in Nashville.

Donna Summer, the Queen of Disco, the woman responsible for hits like “Last Dance,” “Bad Girls” and “She Works Hard for the Money,” has passed away this morning after battling cancer for some time. She was 63-years-old and is survived by her husband singer Bruce Sudano, her three daughters, and four grandchildren.

TMZ was the first to report her death and her family just released this official statement on her passing.

“Early this morning, we lost Donna Summer Sudano, a woman of many gifts, the greatest being her faith. While we grieve her passing, we are at peace celebrating her extraordinary life and her continued legacy. Words truly can't express how much we appreciate your prayers and love for our family at this sensitive time.”

Mary Richardson Kennedy, the estranged wife of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., has died.

RadarOnline.com broke the news that the 52-year-old Kennedy was found dead in her Mount Kisco, NY home on Wednesday afternoon.

The circumstances surrounding her death are unclear, however, a source told RadarOnline that Mary committed suicide.
The man who started the wild rumpus, passed away Tuesday at the age of 83.

Maurice Sendak, author and illustrator of “Where the Wild Things Are” and “In the Night Kitchen” died in a hospital in Danbury, Connecticut early Tuesday morning alongside longtime caregiver, Lynn Caponera.

Huffington Post reports that the author suffered a stroke on Friday.

Love is pouring in for the late Adam Yauch, founder and “MCA” rapper for the Beastie Boys. Yauch passed away Friday following a near-three-year battle with cancer.

The band's publicist issued the following statement online about Yauch's passing:

"It is with great sadness that we confirm that musician, rapper, activist and director Adam “MCA” Yauch, founding member of Beastie Boys and also of the Milarepa Foundation that produced the Tibetan Freedom Concert benefits, and film production and distribution company Oscilloscope Laboratories, passed away in his native New York City this morning after a near-three-year battle with cancer. He was 47 years old."
"Entertainment Tonight" is reporting Dick Clark will be cremated and his ashes will be scattered over the Pacific Ocean, however, one source says there will be no funeral.

It is unclear if a memorial has been planned for family and friends of the star and there has been no mention of a public service.

A statement written by the family says he passed away this morning following a “massive heart attack” after numerous attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful.

Dick Clark began his career working in the mailroom of a radio station in upstate New York and it wasn’t long before he was appearing on the radio show.
Cissy Houston has kept to herself since her daughter’s death, and understandably so.

But the mother of Whitney Houston is now breaking her silence in a TV interview with New Jersey’s My9 10 O’Clock News.

“I have my moments,” Cissy says. “I’m not there yet. I don’t think I’m any more courageous than anyone else. I am a true believer in God, if I could bring her back I would, but that’s not possible.”

A photo of Whitney Houston lying in an open coffin was recently released, sparking public outrage.

The ‘National Enquirer’ published the morbid image, which was allegedly taken at the family’s private service at a funeral home in New Jersey. The photo shows Whitney lying dead in her casket, wearing a purple dress, diamond brooch and earrings. The following headline accompanied the image: ‘Whitney: The last photo!’
