New details have just surfaced in connection with David Letterman’s extortion case.

Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau concluded a press conference saying Robert Halderman was arrested after he tried cashing the $2 million phony check Dave’a lawyer gave him on September 30th.

He was indicted on one count of attempted first-degree grand larceny. If convicted, he faces from five to 15 years behind bars.

Halderman met with Letterman’s lawyer on three separate occasions to try and hash out a deal. He also told Letterman via a note that “his world is about to collapse around him.”

The DA explained during the press conference, "Our concern here is extortion, and that's what we're focusing on.” Halderman is being arraigned right now in state Supreme Court.

Details coming up….

What a wacky story this is turning into. The latest is that this idiot Halderman's live in girlfriend is one of the girls that Letterman slept with. Halderman is a dope, I don't know how he expected to get away with blackmail. Seriously, if you're blackmailing someone, wouldn't you want the money in cash as opposed to a check?

Wow...did this guy need money or did he just really hate David Letterman?
