David Copperfield Responds to Sexual Assualt Lawsuit

David Copperfield is the subject of another sexual assault lawsuit. A Seattle woman has filed suit against the famous magician, claiming he assaulted and threatened her on his private island in the Bahamas.

But David says her claims are just an attempt at “extortion money, plain and simple.” The 22-year old woman, a former Miss Washington USA contestant, filed papers on July 29th in Seattle.

According to the Seattle Times, the unnamed woman claims she met Copperfield at a performance in January of 2007, and was then invited to the island where the assault occurred.

The report claims "Copperfield … attacked and sexually assaulted her" and "threatened to kill her," despite her attempts to fight him off, which left her "extremely traumatized."

Copperfield’s lawyers have responded saying, "The facts are that there were more than 20 women and men on the island during her visit. The allegation that there was no one on the island to help her – even if she needed help – is preposterous."

This isn’t the first time this has happened. Back in 2007, the FBI investigated Copperfield after a sexual misconduct lawsuit was filed. At the time, a lawyer for the magician said, “If in fact those are the allegations, unfortunately false allegations are all too often made against famous individuals. But we are confident the investigation will conclude favorably."

Guess 2007 was a busy year for David! In fact, a source tells Hollyscoop exclusively that she was lured from the audience while at a show, and brought backstage and invited to the “island.” Luckily, she declined!!!

We sincerely hope David is telling the truth, but something about him rubs us the wrong way!
