A long long time ago, David Beckham was JUST a soccer player. He wasn’t an underwear model or a DILF or anything. He was just a guy that kicked balls around and he was in line to be a very talented soccer stud, if only he didn’t become obsessed with fame.
David’s former soccer manager Sir Alex Ferguson said everything changed when David fell in love with Victoria Beckham and became obsessed with chasing celebrity status alongside her.
“David was the only player I managed who chose to be famous, who made it his mission to be known outside the game,” Alex Ferguson revealed in his new book.
“The big problem for me…he fell in love with Victoria and that changed everything.”
“He lost the chance to become an absolute top-dog player…he never attained the level of an absolute top player…he started to make decisions that rendered it hard for him to develop into a really great footballer,” said Alex.
Alex also recounted a story about how David wanted to debut his new haircut on the soccer field (we totally remember it, the fauxhawk right?) and threw a hissy fit when his coach asked him to take off his beanie. He flipped out because then it would ruin the haircut “debut.”
Wow. David Beckham just lost a lot of points in our book. What a lame.
