David Beckham: DILF, Soccer Stud, Goodwill Ambassador.
Just days after his tear-inducing visit to an Olympic sponsored photobooth event in the UK, the philanthropic heartthrob has just written a personal letter to the Prime Minister of England to urge him to bring attention to the issue of child stunting, the epidemic of children not getting enough to eat under the age of five and therefore find their development stunted.
“We, the undersigned, need your urgent support to tackle a silent crisis that is affecting around 180 million children under the age of 5 – stunting. If a child doesn’t get the right nutrients in their first 1,000 days of life, the damage to their brain and body cannot be undone,” write Beckham.
Beckham is urging the PM to bring attention to the event on August 12 at the Closing Ceremony of the Olympics to gain increased attention to the hunger epidemic and UNICEF.
“At this event, we ask you to:
- Pick up the pace by setting an ambitious global target to reduce stunting
- Lead the call for other governments to increase their focus on tackling stunting
- Ask business to play their part making nutritious food more widely available to the most vulnerable."
