After speculation that David Beckham was uprooting the entire Beckham brood to play for the Paris Saint-Germain French football club, Beckham has turned down the offer.
A source close to David Beckham's camp has told Hollyscoop exclusively, "For David, family is first and foremost and David, Victoria and the kids love Los Angeles."
Beckham signed five-year contract with LA Galaxy back in 2007 and was made captain immediately upon joining the team. After Beckham led the L.A. Galaxy to the MLS Championship in 2011, the team realized what a hot-commodity he was, which is when he began to take meetings and offers from various European clubs.
Conversation is strong though, “a few other clubs are in talks with David as soon as his contract is up,” adds our source. “But first and foremost David is concerned with his family.” Our source added that David will announce his decision within the next few days.
Although he made headlines for considering a move to France, a Galaxy source tells Hollyscoop that there was no confirmation that David would go to Saint-Germain. Galaxy turned up heat after the MLS win because they understand how valuable David is to the team.
However, good news Los Angelinos--the deal with Paris Saint-Germain is a no-go. PSG President Nasser al-Khelaifi said that the team was "a little disappointed" to come this close to nabbing Beckham.
"Maybe in the future" hints al-Khelaifi. Eh, probably not according to our source.
For now, David will sign a new one-year contract this week with the Galaxy, and the Beckham source adds, "the galaxy understands the value of David Beckham and is currently in talks with David." Beckham doesn't want to uproot his family, but he also wants to ensure that whatever team he goes with, he'll be able to participate in the Olympics.
"Bottom line is, family is first and foremost with David and they love it here," adds another Beckham source.
So, there's still a chance you'll run into the Beckham brood at the concession stand at an LA Galaxy game. You're welcome, Los Angeles.
