David Beckham has a whole lotta money and he's ready to spend spend spend--on property that is. Becks is reportedly in talks to purchasing George Clooney's lake Como Villa.
David and Victoria fell in love with the Villa after spending some time at the house and now that George has decided to sell it, they're putting in an offer!
According to Italian newspapers, David told pals: “I have fallen in love with the beautiful countryside. It's peaceful, quiet and near Milan. It would be great for the family.”
However there's one big problem standing in the way of Becks buying up the Villa--actually there's a billion problems and his name is Tariko Roustam.
Russian billionaire Tariko Roustam is also interested in the house and has reportedly offered Clooney ten times the asking price for the home. Who could say no to that??
The city's mayor Roberto Pozzi is still hoping that George changes his mind and decides to keep the home. He said: “It would be a shame if George went because he has become one of the locals and we have grown fond of him. Everyone has seen him when he comes over and he is always friendly.
“I know the Beckhams stayed at the villa last spring but I never saw them - if George does leave then I hope the Beckhams do buy the place as it will keep a touch of glamour in Laglio.”
Who will win the Lake Como war? Gotta stay tuned to find out!
UPDATE: George just denied the rumors. "To complete the news cycle: I am not buying an island and am not selling my house in Italy. The story was made up, then picked up and now denied. End of another riveting day of false news," says Clooney in a statement.
Gotta love his sense of humor!
