David Beckham on the Truth Behind Harper's Name

David Beckham is a very, very simple man. Apparently he thinks raising a kid is a simple matter of boys like blue and girls like pink.

“Having a daughter is a whole new thing. Having pink in the house and lilac in the house. And you have to be a lot more delicate with girls than with boys and I’m not used to that so it’s a whole new experience but it’s an amazing experience.”

I’m pretty sure you have to be delicate with any baby Mr. Beckham. Did you confuse those three sons you raised with soccer balls?

David sits down for an interview on his facebook fan page to talk about his new daughter Harper Seven. “To have that little bundle of joy in your hands and her making her little noises and opening her eyes – it really is an incredible moment for us.”

He also details why they chose the name Harper Seven. The Harper part is semi-normal, the Seven is treading into crazy celeb baby names. “One of the other reasons is because Victoria’s favorite book is ‘To Kill A Mockingbird’ and the author was Harper Lee.”

I just assumed that Victoria’s favorite book was her diet journal that she had leather bound so she can remind herself of all the 200-calorie meals she ate that week.

The Seven in her name is “because of the shirt number I wore for many years because I had so much luck wearing that number…” and also because there are the “seven wonders of the world and seven colors in the rainbow.”

Really because I thought she was named after the seven books in the Harry Potter series? D’oh.
