David Archuleta's Mom Says Idol Is Fixed

David Archuleta sure does have some pain in the a** parents. Everyone by now has heard that David's father Jeff was a controlling stage dad throughout the show, but now it's his mother Lupe that's causing problems.

Lupe flipped out right at the Idol finale show after David Cook was crowned Idol winner, saying the show was fixed. She was very resentful of her son not winning, and wasn't afraid of letting people know. She said her David was the clear favorite, so voting must have been fixed since the other David won.

And Lupe's wrath didn't stop there! She even complained about the free car Archuleta was given as a runner-up gift, a green Ford Escape Hybrid SUV. Lupe complained that he would be recognized everywhere in their hometown Salt Lake City if he drove that car.

We're confused. Isn't that what they want?! For their son to be recognized? That poor kid better pack up and move away from them before they ruin his career before it even starts!

you can definitely tell american idol was fixed in season 7! David Archie totally had it in the bag! he had the younger fans AND older fans. At the american idols live tour Archie came out and this grandmaw behind me got soo excited! she said he was the sweetest boy shes ever met and he was her favorite lol. But it was fixed because he was praised by the judges and EVERY FAN during the show and i kinda see him soo much better than Cook. ever since they started havin problems with his dad, I think they just fixed the votes. who knows though? ahhh, i was soo mad lol.

I could not agree more. He was the clear favorite. yes he had a different audience, maybe younger and maybe younger and maybe they are the ones who don't call or text tho. We did not think of that. Nonetheless, we see today with Crush, with its wide appeal in surveys thus far that it has a wider appeal than Cook ever had. Also, read the reviews of the concert, GOOGLE "BETTER OF THE TWO DAVIDS IN CONCERT" and you will find many articles stating who sounds better live.

David Archuleta's parents need to keep quiet and ride the wave of fame with their son. They can and will destroy his career if they continue the way they are. His mother especially should be a mother and not a meddling greedy mom, who thinks because her son came in second that he is a superstar. he is far from that still, and may never get that chance. David move out of your house and handle your business. Your father also needs to mind his business as well. It is too bad that since his parents probably don't have profitable careers they feel they can control his. enough. let the boy grow up and come into his own.

WOW..The idols are on tour and America can get a ticket to see their fav idol. I do not think American Idol is fixed. Little Archie was praised all through the show and ther were others more entertaining. Archie has a great voice for a kid and ther is no doubt he will d well. America was looking for something different this year. Oh, the judges loved the little guy, but America chose Cook. Cook is very much the entertainer but most of all he is gracious. There has been no Archuleta bashing from Cook and the only bashing comes from people who cannot accept the truth of the competition. Cook won America over with "Always Be my Baby" and since then, Cook proved himself the winner. I think if people would listen to the songs of Cook and Archie back to back..I think there would be no bashing as Cook and Archuleta have different genre. I know both will do great in their genre and with fans. American Idol never had the final choice, America did and got it right..We will not have boring albums coming out..that is what we ought to be happy about..

i dont think its fixed. david archuleta was a better singer, but obviously more people voted for cook. His parents arent crazy, there normal people, with normal tempers. and the mom probably meant that they dont want people chasing after them everywhere they go and finding out where they live and stuff, because some fans are crazy. Yes, AI is totally rigged this year, i mean, 12M votes? oh please, i dont even believe it, they have to make the voting margin 'far' so that to prove that most people like DC, like 'whatever'. I know from the very start that DA has more fans than Cook. and even in the end, it was clear it was rigged, First, The producers pimping Cook. Second, Simon appeared on Jay Leno and Ellen pimping Cook. Third, Wrong song choice for DA in the semi-finals.... But AI is like so old news, i mean, sure DC won, just bcoz he is marketable... These parents are constatntly getting bombarded--they mut have done something pretty good to have raised such a modest, sincere, talented son--just look how many parents are not able to do so--yet every time a comment is made about these good parents--it is negative. Yes, Yes there is corruption inside of Lythgoes mind and Simon, Ryan,Paula,and Randy follow or they are unemployed. They only care about themselves and with no remorse ignore what they were doing to an innocent 17 year old talent because they did not want a "specific" type of contestant to win. Of course he was the superior in fan base,talent, voice and VOTES.You'd have to be brainless to not pick that up. Cook fans won't,his fan base ..represents, hardcore, vulgar, angry hateful type of species. They seem to have no good in them and will not consider fairness. Lythgo, the walking demon behind the curtains, if you can't see through him. Yes, they adored archie in from the start, but when it got to a point that Archie was definately winning material, they were not going to let that happen because of political reasons. So to hide under that,they had to conjure up a way to make it seem that their was a huge differential in the votes to make public believe the loss. IDOL is evil and run by a group of Englishmen who came here to manipulate the American music system and our young talent. It was never an "American" Idol, we all have experienced and "UN-American"Idol an "England" Idol. True American judges would not have let these Englishmen, or anyone for that matter, manipulate, abuse and mistreat an innocent 17 year old contestant to the point of a fake loss. Cook also is struggling with his win. He admitted his conviction to hearing his praises in front of Archie. Why? He knows deep down he is not the true winner and the title truly belongs to Archi. Cook even questions the 12 mil votes for him. So yes it is what it is and that is R-I-G-G-E-D. Idol is a cheaters game and cook's fans support this cheating game with no conviction. So when someone defends the truth in this, the cook fans are defensive, vulgar, hateful. Well, these kinds of people are under the rock type of music. Wow, and this was perpetrated for the "American" Idol No, America did not get this wrong. Englishmen got this one wrong and knew it from the beginning. Presently there are fans demanding a RECOUNT and and INVESTIGATION. I for one support these fans. The time they spent tediously voting, the money they spent to make their vote count to help this young man's dream come true since age 10. Cook should have never been in this competition. He was already a professional with albums out. Producers broke the rules for Cook. They prevented Archie from singing upbeat songs to keep the public from knowing ARchie's versatality with upbeat music. They bullied him, took songs away from him and gave them to cook. Songs Archie himself selected. Forced him to sing the slow songs to avoid competition over cook. Read all the FACTS. IDOL SHOULD BE BOYCOTTED BEFORE THE SHOW BEGINS AGAIN. Unil then, I support worldwide Archie fans in their demand for a recount and an investiation. I think CNN and NBC will report the fans concern. Archie did sing "Your the Voice" Was this his premonition? It's not that the fans can't take a loss. It's the principle of the matter. If you worked extremely hard at your job for three months and the raise you expected was handed over to someone who worked less hours, and was not that creative in the job with an additional attitude problem, How would you feel?? Is there justice to this?? Answer is Yes, there is. Your the voice.

To add to that, there was an instance where a..h..e Lythgoe was jumping up and down during one of Cook's performance clearly rooting for him, then when Randy Jackson was all praises to David A's performance, Lythgoe remarked "what's with Randy?" All this because Lythgoe was upset at David A's dad. Totally disgusting for a producer!!

I agree with Justice, David A. has been picked-on & critcized all season AND FOR ABSOLUTELY NOTHING than doing his best. How come David Cook & family didn't get the same treatment? I'm sure Jeff & Lupe are terrific people, they must be hurting & this will probably never stop. Idol couldn't stand a 17-year-old outsinging adults, so they had to create controversy & conflict for ratings & to take David down a few notches, he was just too good--that had never happened before on Idol. They kept throwing curve ball after curve ball at this youngster by messing w/his song choices, leaking gossip, making him look like an 11-year-old airhead, you name it & he ducked every one of them & kept on singing his heart out every week! Idol was never a singing competition for David--the producers & judges knew from Hollywood Week that he was the one to beat; this turned out to be a test of character for the young man & he passed with flying colors. He had to be under so much pressure during this show (not counting 3 hrs. of schoolwork to maintain a 4.0 GPA), how many 17-year-olds could do what David did for months without breaking? I believe Idol was hoping he would emotionally collapse so they could vote him off. Didn't happen!!! As for the voting, I do believe it was fixed in Cook's favor, the signs are there for everyone to read, he was just a pawn in the game, this was never David vs. David, it was David A. vs. Idol & Idol won, they got what they wanted at the expense of a gifted 17-year-old boy who gave the best he had every week, that's all he cared about, he didn't care about winning. How can the public possibly know if the votes are accurate? FOX can say/do anything it wants. Idol should have always had a one-vote system done by an independent voting agency, not this unlimited crap. 12 million votes? I don't think so, it ain't 12 million INDIVIDUAL votes, just a bunch of Cook fans who hooked up their phones to gizmos and voted thousands of times each. Why would Idol want Cook to win? They needed a "rocker," plus Cook will probably--but not necessarily--fade away in a year or two whereas David A. will more than likely have a long career ahead of him--whether he won or not. In other words, the kid could afford to lose because he'd still sell CDs. If Cook was declared the winner 19E could make money off the publicity right away. Notice his songs are the only ones that can be downloaded? I think Idol knows that David Archuleta will eventually take off like a rocket & there'll be no stopping him. Too bad he's stuck with 19E, I wish him & his family the best, the public is finally seeing that David is a terrific teenager--straight, humble, modest, shy, intelligent, articulate, funny. And he just happens to sing like an angel. All he wants is to reach & influence people w/ his voice & felt that AI was the quickest, easiest way for him to do it--which it was. He got what he wanted out of it, although he SHOULD have won, he didn't NEED to, he will be successful regardless & he's probably thankful he didn't win; the negative publicity would be even worse. Can't wait to see how he's doing in a few more years, I think his voice is incredible & will buy every CD he puts out. GO DAVID!!!

Everyone including music pros knows David A is the best vocal and talent. But AI got what they want. They can make tons of money from Cook(short term) and Archuleta(long term). In fact, AI's best interest was to make Cook win because of the instant purchasing power of adults who are mostly Cook's fans. If David A won, the adults wouldn't have spent money because they would have been very upset by the result. AI's manipulations to get the result they want had to put Archuleta's family in humiliation. What has this family done to you? If any parents give support as much as Archuletas, there will be lots of aspiring talents.

After all, Nigel Lythoge himself said that daddy Archuleta was banned back stage because, "We just want David to be able to be free like everybody else to get on and do what they want to do.".......then they make the teenager sing a song for a "70 yr old" but WONT let him do it HIS way. Then they force Syesha to sing a song for a 6 year old that "no one has heard of" and then give Cook one of the "greatest rock songs of all time"....yeah, I don't know how anyone could think that it was fixed.....but look up FAVORITISM in the dictionary...... In fact the only shocker in your headline is that you seem to be oblivious to the fact that about 45% of the people voting that night think the show is fixed, themselves. I am a big Archie fan but the sales numbers on I-Tunes and Billboard tell the whole story. Cook will probably make more money for the Idol producers because his fans have the most money to spend. On the other hand, Archie will make more money than Cook over his lifetime because he appeals to a broader audience and has an 8-year "head start". If a straight "popular vote" were taken - one vote per person, then I would say the results would be a LOT closer.

How could a kid a front runner since day 1 and up to the last performance shakes up the whole Nokia theatre be 2nd? It is so clear it is fix. Watch the comment of Simon On " Ellen" It was so clear. he's strategy, the unusual critique between the 2 finalist was part of the master plan.

Well, a lot has been written but, let me tell you this. Pretty much everybody knows and see that David Archuleta is a sweet, happy, sincere and talented guy right? (for me the best in this competition, but that is another story). Do you really think that this kid is like that because his parents are horrible and bad people? I do not think so. Every parent knows that how we teach our children is what they will become, and I do not see David being terrible, envy, cocky or egocentric.. he is terrific and THANKS TO HIS PARENTS. I swear!!

Everybody who has a brain knows that the results were manipulated by the AI producers. From the very beginning, David A has been the more popular, winning the competition show after show and the more talented singer. David Cook cannot hold a candle to David A! But somehow, the producers, Nigel Lythgoe in particular was upset at some people behind David A. and did everything he could to sway some votes. And to mention that David Cook won by 12.5 million votes made the fixing the more obvious. They had to make it appear that David Cook won by so many votes to make it a "convincing" win! NO WAY would David Cook win by 12.5 million votes! It just does not add up! They had to make it a big margin win so as not to avoid the same incident between Clay and Studdard in Season 2. What was that 13,000 votes, then 130,000 votes! Could not make up their minds! And didn't all those great, veteran singers call David A the one who has a voice that will make him a great, great singer? The one who is a prodigy? Yes, the results were certainly fixed!!!

I see very few families now a day's that have a son that say's: I put school 1st. Good for you. Julie A., sorry bad advise, a seventeen year old boy still needs his family. I am a family friend of the Archuleta's and I know without question Lupe did not have a fit. These are wonderful loving parents who alone with their entire family sacrificed a great deal for their son to live his dream. All the negative publicity about this family is sad and disgusting. Take it from someone who knows... these are good people who are genuine. Lupe is one of the kindest, sweetest, and humble people I have ever met. Give the family a break!!!

Come on people! I was at the homecoming, and when people saw David pull up, they literally attacked the car! If they saw him driving down the street, they'd do that exact same thing. His mom is just concerned for his welfare and she wants him safe. If I was his mom I wouldn't want anything less. And as for Idol being fixed, it is. It is totally rigged. they gave David A really good comments so then Cook people would think that he was in trouble so then they voted a lot more. Check out Archies parents when Cook was announced winner. Pure grace and good sportsmanship. No signs of hysteria. It's hard to believe she went back stage and blew a gasket. In any court of law, "hearsay" is "never" admissable as evidence. Name the source or witness', or shut up. Otherwise, the lawers are coming for you. Any contest which allows anyone to vote 4 or 500 times, with computers on rapid speed dial, and websites dedicated to voting for anyone, but the frontrunner, is not a valid measure of a champion. 97 million people did not vote, maybe 2 or 3 million did, many, many, times. Which is antithetical to any objective determination. Both Davids are class acts, from very diferent genre's, and who both deserve nothing but great success. Their brotherly love and respect for each other, regardless of who "won", should be an example to all of us. I really wish you guys leave David alone. He just doesn't have a great voice, he is a great kid too. I don't understand why you guys keep picking on his family, I am sure they are a good people. I am sick and tired of you people who don't have anybody to pick on, before you say anything see how you live your life. I am sure you are doing this because you know how many fans David Has and you want to get famous your self. I think the reason that Archie lost was because the show gave 4 hours to call. A lot of Archie's fans are in high school and they needed to go to sleep. I am a Mom and it was hard fro me to keep my self awake making phone calls for him. D.C. his fans are in College so they can do whatever they want so they stay late calling a million times.. that is the only reason!!!, Just think for a little bit, OK? David is a awesome person and I just wish you can leave him alone. I do believe there is a conspiracy. I got Archie's music on itunes and they never had America, Stand by me and others. I am sure Stand by me and America will put him on the top of billboard. Why do they just had Cook music? All his music was there on itunes but not Archie's, Why? Now they are all talking about how wonderful DC is. He is good I am not going to say he is bad, but play fare. I am sure he doesn't have to do with this, he seems nice. What a bunch of lies. David Archuleta has been nothing but gracious in his loss. He has talked repeatedly about his respect for Cook and about Cook deserving it. His parents have been wonderful. I wish all the arrogant Cook fans would give it a rest. What more do you want from this kid?

I am so upset I am confusing words. I have friends who were at the finale and spoke to the Archuletas. They said they were gracious. David has been incredibly gracious since the show, as has Cook. Why do Cook fans insist on being petty?

Jody, get your facts straight. A few years ago when David and her mother were visiting her family in the Honduras, David was to sing for a festival there. He lost his voice in the middle of a song (Spanish song) and his Spanish-speaking mother went onstage to finish because he couldn't. Seriously, why bash him or the family? I don't believe this about David's family. I have friends who were at the family and spoke to the Archuletas, and they were as gracious as their son.

Why don't you Archie fans believe it's true? It's typical behavior for parents trying to push their kid to the top. Ever seen moms get mad when their sweet angel didn't win the beauty contest of make the cheerleading squad? Same thing. Don't forget this is the mom who went on stage a few years back and finished a song for her son after he forgot the lyrics. That alone tells the whole story. Jeff may be the pushy stage dad, but mom is right in there with him.

I don't know why they are printing such negative stories about a kid who couldn't be nicer. His parents didn't know Cook personally and were frustrated. The important thing is that Archuleta is a wonderful kid. His parents did something right. He's amazingly talented and a sweetheart.

I've watched interviews all season that show the Archuleta's as good natured people ... and just by looking at how David carried himself through the competition showing respect and humility is enough proof for me that the Archuleta's have been wronged!!! David even spoke up for his father and mother and I believe in him and in the Archuleta's ... It's time for the media and everyone else to stop bashing the Archuleta's and start looking at yourselves in the mirror!!!

Anyone that had voted in the numerous polls that were posted on line in the last three weeks leading up to the finale knows David Cook was leading in all of them by about 2/3 of the vote. He won it fair and square.

Shame on you. You, media, ruined the chance of David's winning the crown by bashing his family. It is obvious who should have won. He proved he's the best vocal and talent. Leave the family alone. I tend to doubt both your points. You don't even cite sources for Lupe's comments. You aren't the first to report it, but it sounds so made up. How hard would it be for anybody to float a rumor about what they supposedly heard backstage? Not very. That leaves the responsibility of verification on the reporter.
