On Friday morning George Clooney was arrested outside of the Sudan Embassy in Washington after protesting Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir.

After a short stint in jail, Clooney was released after paying the $100 bail. George joked of his time in the pokey:

“Really rough you can imagine…Have you ever been in a cell with these guys?” Celebrity arrests are nothing new, but it’s a different story when they’re arrested for standing up for a cause. George joins a handful of other celebs who have been arrested for protesting:
Daryl Hannah, a blonde bombshell in her day, was arrested on Tuesday right outside of the White House.

Hannah was protesting with a group of activists on the sidewalk in front of the White House. The police made three requests for the group to move, and after they refused, police handcuffed all of them—including Hannah.

The group was protesting an oil pipeline project.

“Sometimes it's necessary to sacrifice your freedom for a greater freedom,” Hannah says of her arrest.

“And we want to be free from the horrible death and destruction that fossil fuels cause, and have a clean energy future."
