Slumdog Star is Now Homeless

We keep hearing all these amazing stories about how the children from the hit movie Slumdog Millionaire have trust funds set up, and how they're getting new homes, and education, but we're starting to grow a little suspicious of all of it.

Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail, 10, who stared in the movie as the youngest version of Salim Malik, is now officially homeless after his home was torn down by authorities.

Ismail was reportedly asleep in his home on Thursday morning when a police officer woke him up and told him to leave. More than 30 homes in the area were then demolished by Mumbai authorities.

The child star says, "A police officer took a bamboo stick to hit me and I was frightened."

His mother, Shameem Ismail, adds, "They didn't give prior notice. We didn't even get a chance to take out our belongings. I don't know what I am going to do."

It's so heartbreaking to hear these stories about these amazing kids. Slumdog made over $300 million dollars worldwide, and the stars of the movie are homeless!? It's truly heartbreaking.

The producers have made loads of money from the money. They might as well help out the actors in their movie. But thinking that their home country is India, I'm not not sure how the producers could actually help them out.

I suppose they cannot leave their country, right? There are better areas for them to live in, the other stars need to come to their senses and help them!

It's sad, but it is a Bollywood problem, not Hollywood.

Why doesn't an Actor's Union rep raise a stink about this ? I thought you had to be in the union to work in a union film ? This film was not some student project. This kid should have been paid union scale, and I am assuming he was not, or else he wouldn't have to continue to live in a slum.
