When Donald Driver took the Dancing with the Stars stage with Peta Murgatroyd, the judges praised him, saying he was “nothing but charisma and charm.” And indeed, Driver caught the eye of many viewers, leaving the non-sports savvy ones to wonder just who the heck he is.
Driver is a wide receiver for the Green Bay Packers, but not only that, he’s a children’s author, too. Donald has published three children’s books: Quickie Handles a Loss, Quickie Makes the Team, and Quickie Goes to the Big Game.
The books are based on Donald’s bedtime storytelling to his three kids. Yup, he’s a family man. His wife and children were actually in the Dancing with the Stars audience, taking part in his prolonged ovation.
Driver also has a friendly rivalry with his Dancing with the Stars costars Maria Menounos and Jaleel White.
“You know what Double D has?” Maria joked. “And this is about it: That million-dollar smile.”
Well, he does have that.
“Just kidding,” Maria continued. “You know he’s going to have moves. I’m always messing with him, but that smile is insane!”
But Driver has his eye on Jaleel White, who came in on top during last night’s Dancing With the Stars premiere (along with Katherine Jenkins). Driver said: “I told him I’d roll some marbles in there to make sure that [Jaleel and his partner] fall.”
It’s all fun and games ‘til someone rolls an ankle.
Donald was undeniably charismatic on the show, but in the end, his dancing skills didn’t impress the judges. He scored 21 out of 30, though the score was greeted with boos.
