'DWTS' Recap: Double Elimination Blues, Roshon and Melissa Sent Home

Only four couples will dance on to the semifinals, so on last night’s episode of ‘Dancing with the Stars’, a painful double elimination was in order.

The show kicked off with an encore performance of the trio dance, with threesome Donald Driver, Peta Murgatroyd, and Karina Smirnoff jiving once more. Then Donald and partner Peta learned they were safe from elimination, but Katherine Jenkins and Mark Ballas were in jeopardy.

The first couple to be eliminated: Roshon Fegan and Chelsie Hightower, leaving William Levy and Cheryl Burke headed to the semifinals. Roshon couldn’t stay in the competition without a Dance Duel to squeak by.

Chris Brown performed “Turn up the Music”, then a lighthearted tribute to the late Dick Clark featured some of the original dancers from ‘American Bandstand’.

Back to the eliminations, we learned that Maria Menounos and Derek Hough would remain.

That meant Melissa Gilbert and Maksim Chmerkovskiy got the axe, right on Melissa’s birthday! Harsh. Then again, many have dreamt of the “Chmerkovskiy sandwich”, as Carrie Ann called their trio, but none have danced it save our birthday girl. So don’t feel too sad for her.

That left Katherine and Mark headed to the semifinals. Melissa shared her final dance with Maks. There were tears, but it’s your birthday, Melissa, you can cry if you want to!

Next week, the final four compete in the semifinals.
