Dancing With The All-Stars Week 1 Recap

Stars! All-stars! Half Points!? Dancing with the Stars All-Stars edition marks the return of everyone’s favorite show with a few differences.

For starters, (mostly) everyone is scoring in the 20+ region. (More on that later). There is the addition of half-points and this time it isn’t about winning, it’s about redemption. And of course, like every year, the phrase “star” is used very loosely.

The contenders include retired gymnast Shawn Johson, actress Kirstie Alley, bombshell Pamela Anderson, Cheetah Girl Sabrina Bryan, Indy 500 champ Hélio Castroneves, 'N Sync's Joey Fatone, 98 Degrees' Drew Lachey, actor Gilles Marini, soap star Kelly Monaco, Olympian Apolo Anton Ohno, reality star Melissa Rycroft and retired NFL running back Emmitt Smith.

Let’s get the low-scores out of the way. Bristol Palin and partner Mark Ballas only scored a 19.5 for a cha-cha-cha to Pink’s “Blow Me (One Last Kiss), but no matter, Bristol’s liege of freakishly devoted fans will carry her to the end like last time.

Despite her weight loss plans and constant workout paparazzi pics, Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy only scored 19 points for a foxtrot to Adele’s “Set Fire to the Rain.”

Pamela Anderson was expected to bring the sexy (because uh boobs?) but even with a cha-cha-cha routine, she was the lowest earner of the night with 17 points (Sorry partner Tristan MacManus).

Now for the highlights, the night’s best score came from Emmitt Smith and Cheryl Burke for their 24.5 point cha-cha-cha to Aretha Franklin’s “Chain of Fools” proving yet again that athletes do extremely well in this competition.

Actor Gilles Marini (remember him, from “Sex and the City”?) is primed to become the next William Levy for a 24-point Foxtrot to Frank Sinatra’s “Call Me Irresponsible” with partner Peta Murgatroyd.

Former Cheetah Girl Sabrina Bryan scored 22.5 points with partner Louis Van Amstel for a cha-cha-cha to One Direction’s “What Makes You Beautiful.”

Skater Apolo Ohno and Karina Smirnoff gained 22 points for their cha-cha-cha to LMFAO’s “Party Rock Anthem”
