5 Things You Didn't Know About 'DWTS' Contestant Katherine Jenkins

We know who Sherri Shepherd, Maria Menounos, Melissa Gilbert and Urkel are, but Katherine Jenkins? Who exactly is this fresh face that will be gracing Season 14 of ‘Dancing With the Stars’?

The show announced its lineup for Season 14, and while most names were recognizable, Jenkins seemed to come out of nowhere. It left us all wondering exactly who this star is, so without further adieu, here are five things you didn’t know about Katherine Jenkins.

She’s A Chart-Topping Singer: Katherine Jenkins is a Welsh opera singer, and six out of seven of her albums reached number one in the classical charts. Her second album, Second Nature reached number 16 in the UK Albums chart, and it was Album of the Year at the 2005 BRIT Awards.

She’s Already Been on ‘DWTS’: Jenkins was on the show in April 2011. She sang during ‘Classical Week,’ when Kirstie Alley infamously lost her shoe.

She’s Single: Like what you see, guys? Well, she’s on the market. Katherine recently broke up with her boyfriend of four years, TV presenter Gethin Jones. The two were engaged in February of last year, but they announced their split on Twitter less than a year later.

She’s Doing ‘DWTS’ To Overcome A Fear: When asked why she decided to be on the show, Katherine Jenkins responded: "I like to conquer my phobia. I was afraid of heights. I got a pilot's license. My biggest fear was to drown, so I got a SCUBA diving license. I get embarrassed dancing by myself, so I figured why not do it in front of millions of people."

She Has Dance Experience: In the 2008 musical, Viva La Diva, Katherine joined ballerina Darcey Bussell on stage.
