Drugs Not a Factor in Courtney Love Custody Case

While we speculated that the reason Courtney Love lost legal custody over her daughter Frances Bean was over her drug problem, we now have learned that’s not the case. According to People, Frances simply wanted to live with her grandmother.

Her attorney Keith A. Fink says, “Courtney's been clean for years and is perfectly fine. This is simply about Frances preferring to live with her grandmother at this time."

On Friday, a judge appointed Kurt Cobain's mother Wendy O'Connor and her daughter Kimberly Cobain as temporary legal guardians over Frances Bean. A hearing on the matter is set for February 10th.

"Frances is 17 and a strong-willed child, and this is a decision she made on her own," Fink adds. "No matter what, Courtney loves her daughter more than anything in the world."

But this doesn’t mean Frances hasn’t had to deal with her mother’s issues in the past. Back in 2003, she was removed from her care after Courtney was arrested for trying to break into her boyfriend’s home. The grandmother was given temporary custody then as well.

It seems as though there’s a mutual respect between Frances and her grandmother. In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, she said, "She's probably the person I respect most out of anybody in the world.”

Whatever the reason really is this time, we know it’s a good idea to stay away from Courtney Love!
