Courtney Love is Finally a Clean Woman

December 11, 2006

It was a great day in court today for Courtney Love. The judge appointed to her case decided to terminate her probation for drug and misdemeanor assault charges due to her successful completion of a drug rehabilitation program. Why can’t Pete Doherty follow Love’s footsteps?

In 2005, Love had pleaded guilty for misdemeanor possession of a narcotic and no contest to one count of misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon. She also had other outstanding criminal cases from October 2003 and pleaded guilty to her drug possession arrest. Love was ordered to an 18-month treatment and if successful the plea would be dismissed.

Love was sentenced to three years of probation, one year of a drug treatment program, random drug testing, 100 hours of community service, ordered to one year of anger management counseling and a $1,000 fine. She also had to attend Narcotics Anonymous meetings three times a week.

Love’s attorney told Us Weekly that,"This morning all cases were dismissed and the record was expunged before Judge Rand Rubin, who made a point that was really cool. He said 'You have done more than expected, and many times it doesn’t happen that way.' And he said 'I commend you.' He dismissed all the cases, terminated probation and [is] expunging [her] record.“

"I'm so happy and excited. I'm relieved," Love said. "I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I'm happy helping people and helping myself. I just want to put all this stuff behind me. It's all so last year."

Congratulations to Courtney Love for really cleaning up her act. Hopefully, many others can follow in her footsteps.
