Courteney Cox. biography
Courteney Cox was born on June 15, 1964 in Birmingham, Alabama and first pursued a degree in architecture at Mount Vernon College before dropping out and trying her hand at modeling in New York City.
Courteney's semi big break later presented itself when she was cast in Bruce Springsteen’s music video for his hit single “Dancing in the Dark.”
Starting with a minor role in the TV series Family Ties (1987-1989), Courteney began landing substantial roles in films such as Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994) opposite Jim Carrey before landing her official big break as Monica Geller in the hit TV series Friends (1994-2004) – a role that launched her to true celebrity status worldwide.
Featuring Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Matthew Perry and Matt LeBlanc, the ensembles’ consistent, comedic performances went on to earn the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance as well as six nominations in the same category from 1999 to 2004.
In 1996, Courteney’s popularity increased in size when she assumed the role of the over-eager reporter Gale Weathers in the horror classic Scream as well as Scream 2 (1997), Scream 3 (2000) and Scream 4 (2011).
Despite starring in the box office failure 3000 Miles to Graceland (2001) with Kevin Costner and Kurt Russell, Courteney bounced right back with a memorable performance in the independent thriller November (2004).
Courteney then returned to TV as Lucy Spiller in the short-lived series Dirt (2007-2008) prior to starring as Jules Cobb in the hit sitcom Cougar Town (2009-2013), which later earned her a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a TV series.
