Conan’s friend and former sidekick Andy Richter has been named the announcer for the Tonight Show when Conan takes over, which is a role Ed McMahon once held. The two will be replacing Jay and his crew on June 1st.
We loved it when Andy was a part of Conan from 1993-2000. They were hysterical together, and were able to really bounce jokes off each other. This transition will be a tough one in the beginning, so it’s nice that Andy will be there to help. Conan says, “Andy is one of the funniest people I know, and we’ve maintained a close friendship since he left ‘Late Night’. We have a proven chemistry that will be an incredible asset to ‘The Tonight Show.’”
And always one to throw a joke in there, Conan said, “Another reason I’m bringing Andy on is because he owes me $300.”
How do you think Conan will compare with Jay Leno in the Tonight Show spot?
