Kerry Washington Fails to Make History at 2013 Emmys

Claire Danes walked away with the prize for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series at the Emmys tonight. This disappointed those who were crossing their fingers and rooting for Kerry Washington.

Had Kerry won, she would have been the first African-American to win in that category ever.

The “Scandal” actress was the most competitive name in the category, which was led by Claire who won the previous year for her role as Carrie Mathison on Showtime’s “Homeland.”

“Kerry Washington” is currently trending on Twitter at the moment (not “Claire Danes,” ironically enough) with many saying the actress was robbed.

Were you surprised by this year’s winner?
