Claire Danes is apparently celebrating the end of “Homeland” Season 2 in an unorthodox way: Becoming a mom!
The actress and her husband Hugh Dancy welcomed their first son, Cyrus Michael Christopher Dancy, on Monday.
People magazine is confirming the news, relaying a message from the all-star Showtime star’s rep.
As Hollyscoop previously reported, it is expected that Ms. Danes will kick some serious ass when it comes to playing the part of “mom” — this according to her “Homeland” co-star Hrach Titizian.
We spoke to Titizian, who plays CIA analyst Danny Galvez on the hit series, about Claire Danes the mom-to-be.
“I told her if you're going to be half as good of a mom as you are an actress then you're going to kick ass,” he said.
Danes was pregnant while finishing filming the final episodes of Season 2, which required some serious discipline from the actress, as well as a “belly double.” But she remained professional and “sweet” throughout the process.
She officially announced her pregnancy in July of this year. Claire and Hugh tied the knot in 2009 during a private, French ceremony.
In addition to being a new mom and an all-around awesome person, Claire has been busy taking the television world by storm, winning across-the-board approval from critics and back-to-back Golden Globes for her portrayal of Carrie Matheson in the show’s first two seasons.
Congrats to Claire and Hugh for the happy new addition to their family!
