Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

If there was one movie from 2008 that had amazing special effects, it’s Iron Man. The Dark Knight is right up there with it, but Iron Man blew us away! And that’s why it’s leading the nominations for the upcoming Visual Effects Awards. Iron Man has nabbed five nominations, while The Dark Knight, Indiana Jones, and Bolt all have four apiece.

Iron Man is nominated in the following categories: visual effects in a visual effects-driven movie, best single visual effect of the year, outstanding animated character in a live-action movie, outstanding models and miniatures in a feature, and outstanding special effects in a movie.

The biggest nomination for Iron Man is in the category of Best Single Visual Effect of the Year. They’re up against Cloverfield, The Day The Earth Stood Still, and Indiana Jones for the honors.

What we think sets Iron Man apart from these other movies is that it was an amazing movie on top of the fact that it was visually pleasing. Films like Indiana Jones were entertaining only because of the effects, while the actual plot wasn’t good.

But Iron Man does have a little competition in the category of Best Visual Effects in a Visual Effects-driven movie. It’s up against The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Hellboy II, and Cloverfield.

No wonder so many studios these days are setting up more movie premieres outside of the United States. Our economy can be a big factor to this outcome, there’s more money to be made these days in Europe and Asia. Let's not forget that their money is worth more than our dollar. That’s probably the reason why the cast of “Narnia” hit Eastern Europe for its film release with a Hollywood style red carpet affair. What happened to Hollywood and its glamorous premieres?

Last night, Ben Barnes, Mark Johnson, Skandar Keynes, William Moseley, Andrew Adamson, Anna Popplewell and Georgie Henley came out for the film premiere in Prague. Fans lined up on the street for hours to get a glimpse of their favorite stars in the fantasy flick.

The film is based on Prince Caspian, the second published novel in C. S. Lewis' children's fantasy series, The Chronicles of Narnia.
