Christina Applegate Wants A Baby Before Chemo

August 14, 2008

Christina Applegate is trying to stay positive after the terrible news that she's battling breast cancer. So she's reportedly decided to have a baby, since she's been wanting to for a very long time, Star Magazine reports.

Before she was diagnosed, Christina told a reporter that she didn't want to wait until her mid-forties to have a baby, and that her biological clock was ticking.

Christina has also decided to put off her chemotherapy until after giving birth. She apparently plans on getting pregnant with musician Martyn Lenoble, whom she's been dating for a few months.

Then Christina will start the treatment after giving birth so she doesn't expose her body to chemo or radiation. What do you think of Christina's plans to compromise her own health for the sake of having a baby?

If this is true, it is nothing but selfish on her part.

I think, since my own daughter has breast cancer, that you should seek treatment, as soon as possible. You can have a baby when you get well.

My thoughts are with Christina and her family during this time. I would love to see her have a baby but as someone who works in the medical field I know what radiation and chemo can do to a patient. I just hope she will have lots of family and friends help her with the baby.

Good plan - seriously.

Umm...My mom's going through chemo right now, and let me tell you, doctors won't let you CHOOSE when to begin treatments. If you prolong chemo treatments, your "situation" could worsen, whatever that may be, and it can't be good for the baby in the long run. Bad idea either way, but I'm pretty sure that this story is untrue...at least I hope it is.
