Kathleen Sebeluis, Secretary of the US Department of Health and Human Services explained: "If 90 percent of women 40 and older received breast cancer screening, 3,700 lives would be saved each year."
This year alone, it’s estimated that more than 230,000 people will be diagnosed with the disease. Many celebs have been confronted with the disease and knocked it. To celebrate breast cancer awareness and give inspiration to the fight—we’re rounding up 7 celebs who have beat breast cancer.

Aniston will direct a short film about breast cancer for Lifetime TV, as part of their five-part anthology series, Project Five.
I can see it already:
ANISTON: CUT!
SUBJECTS: What’s the problem?
ANISTON: Could you throw in some nervous chuckling or something?
SUBJECTS: This is a documentary about cancer.
ANISTON: Yeah. Try clearing your throat, but in a cute, girl-next-door kinda way.
The documentary will show how cancer has affected the lives of various people. Alicia Keys and Demi Moore will also be directing on the Lifetime project.
"We want these films to move people and empower those affected by breast cancer to stand tall through this challenge, which impacts all of our lives, no matter who we are," Aniston said.
Aside from melanoma, breast cancer is the most common cancer among women, and Aniston’s right, many of us have been either directly or indirectly affected by it.
Christina Applegate had a very public battle with breast cancer, and at VH1’s Do Something Awards, she told Hollyscoop: “This award is about them bringing some awareness to the causes that I care about, and that is woman with breast and ovarian cancer.
"I’m really happy that they are giving me an opportunity to talk about RightAction for women, which is my foundation to bring light to a disease that is not for old ladies anymore.”
Damn straight. So get those knockers checked, ladies!

Mommy and daughter are People magazine's new cover girls. This is the first photo we've seen of little Sadie since Christina gave birth on January 27th.
"I felt my heart literally open up for the first time and like wrap itself around her. It was profound," Christina tells People in this week's cover story. "And I'm more in love with her every minute of the day."
How has motherhood changed Christina? Well let's just say she's become a tad bit more competitive. "I want to be the ultimate burper and diaper-changer, I want to be the ultimate at all of it," she says.
Little Sadie has helped Christina finally get passed the fact that she had Cancer. "I've had to talk about that word [cancer] more than I've ever had to talk about a word in my life," she says. "After a while you're like, 'There's got to be something else to me.' " And there sure is, her name is Sadie. Aww! Check out more photos of little Sadie in the new issue of People magazine.

Christina and her fiancé Martyn LeNoble are now proud parents to daughter Sadie Grace Noble who was born weighing 7lbs 8oz.
A spokesperson for the couple said: "Actress Christina Applegate and her fiancé, musician Martyn LeNoble, welcomed daughter Sadie Grace LeNoble on Thursday, January 27, 2011, in Los Angeles. Mother and daughter are doing great."
The sex of the baby was actually a surprise to the two lovebirds as they decided to keep it a mystery until birth, which made the nursery designing process a bit more difficult.
At the time Christina said, "The nursery is gender neutral because we don't know if it's a boy or girl. I'm trying. It's becoming a bigger project than it was supposed to be, unfortunately."
The good news is that little Sadie got a normal name. No apples or oranges for this couple! Since almost everyone is pregnant in Hollywood, I'm sure we're gonna hear some silly names in the next few months.

The video was of course just for sh*ts and giggles but after it aired she got offered big bucks to pole dance for real.
Playing a character called Roxie Fedaro, Christina joked in the video, "Many pregnant women experience these things called hormones because you're like a total fat a**. You don't feel sexy any more... (But) just because you put on an extra 50 pounds does not mean you are not hot..."
Apparently Scores strip club in New York was so impressed with the video they're willing to offer her at least $10,000 to dance for them. Yeah, hold your breath fellas.

She tells People, "I'll probably be a little bit hippie and a little bit Type A. I'll take from what my mother did, which was way hippie and like 'Do what you wanna do,' and bring some things that I know from watching my friends raise their kids. An amalgamation of sorts."
Applegate says she’s craving every type of food possible. "Just keep going with it in my mouth," she adds.
As for what she’s having, Christina says it’s a surprise, at least for now. "It's gender neutral because we don't know [if it's a boy or girl]," she says. "I'm trying. It's becoming a bigger project than it was supposed to be, unfortunately."
Having a baby is a huge project! But it seems like Christina is truly ready to be a mom!

Christina is launching a charity to help at-risk women who can't afford the proper preventative care. The charity, Right Action For Women, which will launch this September, will aim at helping women get cancer detected early.
She tells WENN, "It's a program giving financial aid to high-risk women who can't afford to get MRIs, which is how I found my cancer.
"It's unfortunate that insurance companies (in America) don't cover the cost of that. It's such an incredible device because you can find it at an early detection stage. We started our pilot program and started helping women already, even though we aren't launched.
"The other aspect of the program is to do genetic counseling and help women understand what being high-risk means, and understanding what foods are good for their bloods and how to prevent this disease from happening. That has been my mission."
Christina is at a great place in her life. She just announced her pregnancy last week, has a wedding to plan and now this? We wouldn't be more thrilled for her!

Christina's rep confirmed the great news to People magazine, but stayed mum about how far along she is. They were just at the VH1 "Do Something" Awards together on Monday night where Christina wore a loose fitting top and leather skinny jeans. She had us fooled!
Christina's been dating Martyn for two years now and even credited him for helping her recover after undergoing a double mastectomy back in 2008.
"I'm very grateful to Martyn for coming along at a time that he did because he's been my rock through all of this," Applegate told People last year. "He gave me something to really want to live for and something to smile about."
Aww we're so excited for Christina, she's going to be such an awesome Mom!

Director Adam McKay got our hopes up saying Will Ferrell, Christina Applegate, Paul Rudd, and Steve Carell were all enthusiastic to reprise their roles as the infamous news team. But, like most things in life, it came down to money.
Tina Fey and Steve Carell Re-Teaming for Mail Order Groom
The studio was unable to work out a budget, therefore putting a big red light on pre-production. A very disappointed McKay tweeted the bad news, saying, “So bummed. Paramount basically passed on Anchorman 2. Even after we cut our budget down. We tried. To all who asked: no we can’t do Anchorman 2 at another studio. Paramount owns it.”
We won’t give up hope. Crazier things have happened as a result of Facebook petitions, so let’s start one!

This one really slipped past us, because the rep said, "The couple, who have been dating for two years, got engaged on February 14, 2010.”
The rep continued, "There is no set date for the wedding at this time."
Christina has been through so much, between her struggles with breast cancer to her ex-boyfriend dying in 2008, and we’re so glad to see her so happy!
She has said of her BF in the past, "I have a small but mighty support system and Martyn has really been an incredible part of my life. Without him, I don't know if I could've gone through any of it. He came around at a time when there was a lot of loss in my life on many levels, so he's been a really incredible help."
LeNoble is from the Netherlands, and is the founding member of the group Porno for Pyros. Congrats to the happy couple!
