Doing Good: Christina Aguilera Lends Voice Against World Hunger in PSA

Team Xtina is gearing up for an important cause.

Yum! Brands, the restaurant company responsible for Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, and KFC, has announced their Annual World Hunger Relief Effort. Along with the campaign, the company has enlisted the talents of “The Voice” judge Christina Aguilera for a PSA.

“Every night, millions of children go to bed hunger…” Christina reads, channeling a Sarah McLachlan tone in the opening of the video.

The ad shows a dingy bedroom and a crying mother watching over her child as she sleeps. Meanwhile, Christina’s hit “The Voice Within” plays softly on the soundtrack.

She continues, “And every night millions of parents can’t find the words to make it all okay…”

The Relief Effort PSA urges viewers to donate to at participating restaurant locations. Christina tells the audience to “use your voice for good.”

Yum! Brands is using its almost 38,000 locations in over 120 countries to raise awareness, volunteerism and – most importantly - funds.

For Christina, a mother herself, the effort touches even closer to home…

“It speaks to all the mothers in Haiti and Guatemala that I’ve talked to who are struggling to feed their children every day,” said Christina. “It’s devastating.”

She added, “It’s unbelievable that there are nearly 1 billion hungry people in the world. I hope to inspire others to use their voice for good.”

Christina’s video will broadcast in a 15 second spot, and extended 30 second spot, beginning in October.
