Was “The Voice” feud between Team Xtina-Team Adam really rooted in love?
A past love affair was rumored between Judge Christina Aguilera and contestant Tony Lucca from their Mickey Mouse Club days after an on camera quarrel over his team’s choice to perform “99 Problems.” Christina claimed the song was degrading to women, a statement that people – to say the least - read way into.
In a recent interview with TMZ, former MMCer Dale Godboldo claims his words were spun to make it seem like Tony burned Christina during their time on the Disney television show.
“No no no, I did NOT say that,” Dale said. “She was 12 and he was 17. At those ages and age differences, what do you feud about?”
According to Dale, if anything their bond was more of a brother-sister relationship.
He went on to on to say that, to his knowledge, Christina and Tony remained friends even after their time on MMC. Regarding “The Voice” feud, Dale feels it was probably driven by Christina’s competitive spirit.
“In my personal opinion, it's simply that Christina wanted to win,” he said, “Christina knew the support out there for Tony, and Christina probably didn't realize how she sounded sometimes.”
Like Tony, Dale thinks it’s sad that the feud was blown out of proportion, as it is only distracting from Jermaine Paul’s victory.
“People should be talking about Jermaine today … Christina and Tony have made up, and so should America.”
Dale is an actor and executive film producer at "Flyy Girl" for Wylie Studios. He is also currently working on a website project called AlwaysInTheClub.com, that aims to keep fans connected to MMC alumni.
