Christina Aguilera on Reuniting With Her Father: 'Maybe It's Time'
Christina Aguilera hasn’t seen her father in twelve years, and no, it’s not because she’s too busy doing vocal runs. Although that probably does take up a good 20% of her time.

The singer has opened up in the past about her estranged father, Fausto, claiming that he was both physically and emotionally abusive. But Aguilera now says she’s ready to face the past:

“I’ve talked about how rough things were for me, and I’m sure he’s heard it,” Christina says. “He can’t be thrilled about it. So maybe one day we can do lunch…I’m 31 years old now. Maybe it’s time.”

Aguilera does admit she’s realized that she’s getting older, especially working in entertainment.

"I was on the set of a film and the choreographer was 19 and I looked around at all the dancers and I was like, Whoa! I'm the oldest person in this room. When did that happen?"

Christina has a four-year-old son, Max, with her ex-husband, Jordan Bratman. The two were married in 2005, but then divorced five years later.

"Although Jordan and I are separated, our commitment to our son Max remains as strong as ever," Aguilera said in a statement at the time.

Christina hasn’t had anything terribly negative to say about the split and says despite what people may think, it had nothing to do with her age.

“Was I too young? Not at all,” Christina said. “I did the exact right thing at the time. I definitely wasn’t too young. I have always been older than my age.”
