New Details In Batman Arrest

July 24, 2008

We finally have some details on why Christian Bale was arrested in London on Monday night.

Apparently the scuffle he got into with his mother and sister was over money.

Christian's mom asked for $200,000 for help raising his sister's kids, to which Christian refused because he doesn't have a good enough relationship with his sister to give her the money.

Now the tabloids are involved, and the mom-sis duo has been approached by several publications to sell the story.

Then they'll make even more than $200,000! Do you think they should do it, or is it obvious they're just riding the coattails of their famous family member?

I am just now reading about the new details in this incident. It figures money would be involved. The fastest way to have a family argument is over money, especially a large amount of money. Of course, Christian will be seen as the bad guy in this situation but he's not obligated to loan money to family he's not close to, just because they ask!

There was no physical violence involved. His mother and sister filed a complaint for verbal assault. One can't blame Bale for getting angry that his estranged mother and sister come asking for loads of cash, when they've been uninvolved in his life since he was a teen.

Regardless of the family dynamics or his relative wealth, asking for 200k is not exactly a paltry amount. That's about 4 years net salary for the average working person. No one needs an infusion of 200k to feed and clothe their children. I don't condone violence and certainly think that any physical reaction was not appropriate. It doesn't matter. They'll sell their story and get some quick cash. I hope he disowns them both.

I think it really depends on the situation. It is a personal matter and no one should comment on the specifics. Legally, he has no obligation to provide for his nephews or neices unless he is the godfather. Morally, vis a vis a sibling, it depends on the dynamics. Morally, vis a vis the children, one could intervene if they are in danger. I am sure that in the U.K. the government intervenes if a parent cannot provide for children, so Mr. Bale would not be "throwing them to the wolves" by not intervening.

they shouldn't get anything its not his children therefor not his responsibility instead of asking him for money they need to ask the father of the kids to help to raise them not the uncle. They are just after the money he recieved from The Dark Knight. GOLD DIGGERS!
