We thought this was a joke when we first read it but the mayor of an oil-producing city in southeastern Turkey is suing Christopher Nolan and Warner Brothers.
Variety is reporting that the mayor of Batman (in Turkey) is going after royalties from the wildly successful film
The Dark Knight.
Huseyin Kalkan is claiming that the producers used his city's name without getting legal permission.
"There is only one Batman in the world. The American producers used the name of our city without informing us," he said.
With Batman on the radar as a comic book character since 1939 (over 70 years!), what took these guys so long to finally say something? Could it be because The Dark Knight has brought in close to $1 billion and they want a piece of the pie?
