While everyone was tweeting “Happy 4th of July” all morning, Chris Rock used the social media site to vent his Independence Day frustrations.
“Happy white peoples independence day the slaves weren’t free but I’m sure they enjoyed the fireworks,” the comic tweeted.
Harsh words for a country that has provided Chris Rock with a net worth of $70 million.
So far, no celeb Twitter users have jumped on this tweet. Too bad Alec Baldwin quit Twitter, I know he’d have an opinion or two.
So far a ton of tweets have taken aim at Chris for being un-American.
Here’s a sampling of the anti-Chris Rock sentiments:
@chrisrock Good one! I bet your Guatemalan house staff got a good chuckle.— David Burge (@iowahawkblog) July 4, 2012
I stopped considering @chrisrock relevant when he stopped being funny. That was awhile ago. Sad.— Dana Loesch (@DLoesch) July 4, 2012
Sad about Chris Rock slamming our Country. No passes given to celebrities- don't like it here you can leave. America - not perfect but free!— Scott Dawson (@scottofsdea) July 4, 2012
