Chris Martin. biography
Christopher Anthony John Martin was born on March 2, 1977, in Devon, England, and formed the band Coldplay with guitarist Johnny Buckland after meeting at London University College's freshman orientation in 1996.
The two recruited bassist Guy Berryman and drummer Will Champion a year later before releasing their debut studio album Parachutes in 2000.
Immediately reaching number one on the UK Albums Chart, the album launched Coldplay to stardom and earned them their first Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album in 2002. Coldplay's second album A Rush of Blood to the Head (2002) won the 2003 Grammy in the same category as well as the 2004 Record of the Year ("Clocks").
The band has since released additional albums and EPs to similar success, including Live 2003, X&Y, Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends, Prospekt's March, LeftRightLeftRightLeft, Mylo Xyloto and Live 2012.
Aside from working with the band, Chris has collaborated with many prominent musicians, including Jay-Z on his Kingdom Come single "Beach Chair" and Kanye West's hit "Homecoming" off of Graduation. He also made a cameo in both Shaun of the Dead (2004) and Bruno (2009).

In October 2002, Chris was introduced to actress Gwyneth Paltrow backstage at one of Coldplay's concerts and began dating shortly after. On December 5, 2003, the two got hitched and went on to welcome their two children: daughter Apple Blythe Alison Martin (14 May 2004) and son Moses Bruce Anthony Martin (8 April 2006).
