Wondering what to get that hard to shop for five-year-old in you life? How about a limited edition Chris Brown toy?
Rapper and street artist Chris Brown has teamed up with the father of modern street art Ron English to create an exclusive line of collectible toys and one-of-a-kind art sculptures.
According to the artists, the collaboration went smoothly.
“Hands down right now my guy is Ron English,” the Grammy Award winner said about English. “His work is so precise but at the same time so unorthodox.”
English seemed to enjoy the process as well, describing it as “fun and colorful” and with Brown bringing the energy of “kid in a candy store.”
The toys themselves are 10” star-eyed skull people with jet packs, blasting off in neon-colored space suits.
Sculpture manufacturers Garageworks Industries and vinyl toy makers Made by Monsters joined the duo to launch a total of 1000 figures under the name “Dum English,” a name that only calls more attention to how unnecessary these toys really are.
A VIP art exhibit on May 2 at the Corey Helford Gallery in Los Angeles will feature the limited-edition toys, along with Brown’s other street artwork. The figures will be on sale for $140 each. All proceeds will benefit Brown’s foundation, Symphonic Love.
And it appears that this is just the beginning for the Dum English collaboration. More toys, sneakers, and other crap you don’t need are rumored to be on the way soon.
