Chris Brown Has Family History of Abuse

While most of us were shocked when we heard the news of Chris Brown's felony battery charge, experts are now weighing in on the situation and believe he showed early signs of violent behavior.

Back in August 2007 Chris gave a very candid interview to Giant magazine discussing his violent family history. At the age of 11, Chris said he made a vow to his mother that he would go to jail by age 15 for killing his abusive stepfather.

“I just want you to know that I love you,” he told her. “But I’m gonna take a baseball bat one day while you at work, and I’m gonna kill him.”

His parents split up when he was just seven years old and his mom remarried and moved the kids to a trailer park. His stepfather once attempted suicide but failed. The bullet went through straight through his eyes leaving him permanently blinded.

“When you’re blind, your senses are heightened," he explained. "He used to hit my mom….He made me terrified all the time, terrified like I had to pee on myself. I remember one night he made her nose bleed. I was crying and thinking, ‘I’m just gonna go crazy on him one day…’ I hate him to this day.”

Less than two years after this interview he was arrested for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend Rihanna. She also suffered from a bloody nose.

Our friends over at Momlogic.com had an expert weigh in on the situation and his violent past. "It makes sense that someone who witnessed violence as a child would repeat the same behavior as an adult," says Helga Luest, President and CEO of Witness Justice, about the dangerous cycle of violence.

Chris and Rihanna reportedly had a very rocky relationship, Luest says it's possible some of their arguments mimicked the ones Brown grew up watching, and his supposed attack could have been served as a trigger for his outburst.

Bottom line is kids that are exposed to violence will most likely grow up to repeat that cycle unless they seek proper counseling. There's no excuse for domestic violence. If you want more information you can visit sites like endabuse.org or National Domestic Violence Hotline.

UPDATE:
Chris Brown’s former stepfather, Donnelle Hawkins, spoke exclusively to Access Hollywood about the incident. “[Chris] has to take responsibility for his own actions,” Hawkins told Access.

When asked if he believed reports about the alleged incident involving Brown were true, Hawkins said, “I wouldn’t be surprised.”

After Brown’s parents divorced, his mother re-married and Hawkins became Brown’s stepfather.

I honestly, truly, seriously, think Chris Brown is jealous of Rihanna because they both were nominated for awards and he probably wants to ruin her career so that he's better than her. Why would anyone do that to their loved one? He must hate her!
