A picture’s worth a thousand words, and the new one on Breezy’s neck is proving it.
Ever since Chris Brown stepped out with new ink of a woman’s face on his neck, the rumor mill has been spinning that it is a portrait of his ex-girlfriend Rihanna. But Hollyscoop can confirm that – despite how similar it may look - the picture is not of the “We Found Love” singer.
A rep confirms with Hollyscoop exclusively that the rumors are false.
“It is not Rihanna,” the rep said.
While the official word is that the tattoo is not a RiRi tribute, it is easy to see where fans could got the idea from. A side-by-side comparison between the hip-hop singer and the tattoo bears some striking similarities.
Update: A rep for Chris Brown has reiterated to Hollyscoop that the R&B singer’s new neck tattoo is not an image of ex-girlfriend Rihanna.
Instead, the tattoo is hybrid representation of a Mexican tradition and a makeup manufacturer’s ad campaign.
“His tattoo is a sugar skull - associated with the Mexican celebration of the Day of the Dead - and a MAC cosmetics design he saw,” the rep said. “It is not Rihanna or an abused woman as erroneously reported.”
Tattoo artist Peter Koskela, who is responsible for the new ink, confirmed the rep’s statement.
A drawing of the tattoo's initial concept further demonstrates this inspiration.
Brown’s inspiration for the new body art remains unclear, but a source close to the “Turn Up the Music” singer tells Hollyscoop that, “tattoos are personal art.”
The tattoo gossip adds to recent assumptions that Rihanna and Brown are well on their way to getting back together.
A behind-the-scenes camera at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards caught the ex-couple hugging at the ceremony. Brown even gave her a kiss on the cheek.
