Things You Didn't Know About Cheryl Cole

After weeks of speculation, Simon Cowell finally confirmed that British pop star/dancer/model Cheryl Cole will join him as a judge on X-Factor. It's about time!

Cheryl Cole was part of the group "Girls Aloud", which she joined at the age of 19. In addition to the platinum albums she's released, Cole has also graced the covers of British Vogue, Elle, and Harper's Bazaar.

She quickly reached celebrity status in the UK, but since it sometimes takes a little while for a star's fame to jump the pond, here are some facts about the newest X-Factor judge, Cheryl Cole:

Cheryl Cole has always been hot: As a child, Cheryl won various beauty contests, including: Boot Group's "bonniest baby", Mothercare's Happy Faces Portrait competition and "Best Looking Girl of Newcastle".

She stole the show from the Black Eyed Peas: In the summer of 2010, Cheryl Cole was opening for the Black Eyed Peas as they toured the UK. Chris Johnson of The Daily Mail wrote of Cheryl's performance: "She was supposed to be the support act. But as it turned out, Cheryl Cole ended up being the main event." Cherylicious!

Cheryl Cole is a bit of a bad girl: In grade school, Cheryl was suspended for fighting with another student. She was suspended again for swearing on the bus. And she may still have that rebel edge. In 2003, Cole got into an altercation with a nightclub bathroom attendant. She was accused of racially aggravated assault, but Cole denied any of these claims and was cleared of them. She was, however, found guilty of assault occasioning bodily harm. Nothing is more intimidating than a hot chick that can pack a punch!

A few of her favorites: Cheryl says her favorite food is Chinese and her favorite movie is Ghost.

Cheryl Cole climbed Mount Kilimanjaro: In 2009, Cole joined some other celebrities to climb Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money for charity. I'd rather just write a check, but I lose my breath climbing a flight of stairs.

She had malaria once: After visiting Tanzania in 2010, Cole said she noticed her lips were blue and said, "I thought, 'you're getting the flur.' Not for one second did malaria cross my mind." She was then rushed to the hospital and diagnosed with acute malaria. Yikes! Gotta remember to take those giant malaria pills when you travel. Unless blue lips are your look.
