On Monday's performance, Chaz and partner Lacey Schwimmer earned only 19 out of 30 points, the lowest score of the night. They danced to a Broadway-esque routine that didn’t sit so well with the judges.
After performing a set to Phanton of the Opera, Judge Bruno Tonioli told Bono:
"It was like a cute little penguin trying to be a menacing bird of prey."
Well, at least he said "cute".
"The tango needs to be like a panther stalking. This character didn’t fit you."
Well, damn, what kind of dances are there with penguins?
"I took so much away from this," Bono said after getting the boot. "This was an amazing journey that really pushed me and showed me that I could do so much more than I ever thought I could."
"I came on this show because I wanted to show America a different kind of man," he added. "I dedicate everything I did to all the people out there like me, especially the kids and teens who are struggling. You can have a wonderful, great life and be successful and happy."
I love Chaz Bono, because I feel like I have to, but it really was his time to go. It was either him or Hope Solo. Because Hope didn’t do so well on Monday night, either. Solo and partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy earned a score of 20 and were ridiculed for putting together the "worst dance of the season." And oh yeah, there was Maksim's little outburst.
Judge Len Goodman told Solo:
"This is your worst dance of the season in my opinion." Goodman then told Maksim: "I've been in this business for 50 years," to which Chmerkovskiy responded: "Then maybe it's time to go!"
Yikes. The judges are getting it this week. After Tonioli's comment about Chaz, mom Cher came to her son's defense. She tweeted:
"Going Home is Fine buy why insult him b4 he Goes! Maybe Rudeness & Flapping Arms take the place of TALENT." She added, "As for the older gentleman…every Show Needs A Grumpy Old Man!"
Ah, the ramblings of an overprotective mom blind with rage. I know it all too well.
