Charlize Theron is desperate to have a baby. The 36 year old actress has ditched her boyfriend of 10 years, Stuart Townsend, and ended an are-they-aren't-they fling with Ryan Reynolds last month and is finally so fed up with men that she's ready to do it herself and by "do it herself" I mean, rob a sperm bank, er, I mean adopt a baby.
Theron tells Germany's In Touch magazine, "I want a baby. If it would happen tomorrow I would be very happy."
When asked if she would consider adopting as a single mother she said, "Why Not? I'm open to everything in life." Charlize has previously spoken out about adoption when she said, "There are so many unwanted children on this earth and it's our job to care for them. And if we don't we're doing the world a disservice."
But in this day and age if a single woman wants a baby, she should get a baby. Here are the other single moms who made the decision to adopt.
Denise Richards: Richards has two kids with her ex husband Charlie Sheen, Sam and Lola. Since Sheen, Richards has been a single mom and decided it was time for baby no. 3. She adopted baby girl Eloise Joni in July but says the process wasn't easy, "Some people think if a celebrity wants a baby, they get one the nest day. The adoption took two years, and there were times I felt discouraged, times when I got close to adopting a baby and it fell through. But I knew the right baby would find us," Richards told US Weekly.
Sandra Bullock: Bullock started the adoption process while she was with Jesse James, but got the call that she was ready to adopt her new son Louis Bardo Bullock just months before she filed for divorce from Jesse James. Bullock told People that she would raise "Louie" as a single mother. Though it's not like she isn't getting any help, Bullock was spotted hiking through Wyoming with Ryan Reynolds, who carried baby Louis on his back.
Sheryl Crow: Crow adopted both her sons as a single mother. After splitting with Lance Armstrong, Crow adopted two-week old son Wyatt and then three years later she made Wyatt a big brother by adopting another boy, Levi. After adopting her first child she said, "I'm very happy where I am and don't feel any pressure to get married. There won't be anybody coming between Wyatt and Mom."
Edie Falco: Star of "Nurse Jackie," Edie Falco was a single mom when she adopted her two kids, Anderson in 2004, and Macy in 2008. Edie claims that it was her dog that inspired her to adopt, "I have this dog named Marley, and it is a kind of love I had never known... She made me realize I wanted to adopt children."
Mary Louis Parker: The star of "Weeds" has one son with her ex Bill Crudup and has since adopted a baby girl, Carlone 'Ash' Aberash in 2007. She told People, "I finally just decided, 'Okay, I'm going to do this, and it's going to be really hard because I'm single, and I'm going to do it anyways," she shared.
Madonna: After Madonna split from Guy Ritchie in 2008 she adopted her second child in 2009, her daughter Mercy James. Though she's not technically a single mom, she does have a 24 year-old boyfriend named Brahim Zaibat, but since I first confused him as another of her adopted kids, I'm going to call her a single mum.
