Charlize Theron just become a mom, and she says it’s “too hard” to be away from her newly adopted son. Give it a few weeks.
Theron had to leave Baby Jackson at home while she attended the Human Rights Campaign gala, and she said it wasn’t easy.
“He’s doing great,” Charlize said. “It’s very hard for me to leave the house now so you know how important this is because I was like standing at the door going, ‘Ah, this is so hard!’”
A couple of weeks of no sleep and wiping up baby poop should remedy that. Charlize was honored at the event with the Ally for Equality award for her work in the LGBT community. She told the audience:
“Marriage equality is about more than just marriage. It's about something greater. It's about acceptance ... I will always be your cheerleader and I will always be your friend.”
Chelsea Handler hosted the event and said that although she’s not a fan of children, she and Charlize have managed to stay friends. Chelsea told E! News:
"I love Charlize. She's got her little baby now, she's a mother. That was almost a reason I stopped being friends with her because I try not to be friends with too many mothers, but we worked through it."
They might be pals, but there’s one thing Charlize should never ask of Chelsea:
"I don't think anyone would ask me to babysit,” Handler joked.
