Charlize Theron is probably the most stunning woman in Hollywood, so it’s a true testament to movie magic that she can totally transform for films like Monster and her recent flick, Young Adult.
In Young Adult, Theron is still gorgeous, but her character doesn’t exactly have the most beautiful personality. Charlize tapped into her sarcastic, bitter and condescending side for the role.
Hollyscoop asked the actress how she feels about playing more sloppy characters in her films.
“I tend to do that a lot in my movies,” Theron joked with Hollyscoop. “I think I’m becoming an expert now.”
Charlize plays a young adult novelist in the aptly titled, Young Adult. The story focuses on her character's return to her small hometown in an attempt to win back her high school sweetheart, who is now married with a kid. Charlize’s character in the flick seems to be disgusted with her old stomping grounds.
Charlize grew up in a small town herself, in her home country of South Africa. But she certainly doesn’t share the same feelings her character does about her roots.
“I go back quite a bit,” Theron told HS. “I go back, and I love going back.”
She adds that her hometown “is lovely.”
“It’s really nice. I talk to my best friend from high school once a week, or more than that, so it’s very different for me,” Charlize tells Hollyscoop.
Theron remains as graceful and beautiful inside as she does on the outside, so what’s one thing that does get under her skin?
“I’m pretty amazed by Hello Kitty,” she said recently. “I see so many women in their 30s walking around in Hello Kitty sh-t and nobody is concerned for them. It’s the one iconic teenage symbol that seems okay for women in their 30s? The world seems to not have an issue with it.”
Hey, they don’t make Lisa Frank t-shirts. I can’t lie, if they did, I’d be all over that.
