Charlie Sheen's Hospital Scare Not Drug Related

Cool your jets, readers…the only drug that Charlie Sheen’s on today is Advil.

Reports that Charlie is still raging on drugs are turning out to be about as reliable as the actor’s presence on Twitter.

Hollyscoop has been in touch with Sheen’s rep, Larry Solters, who says that drugs were not involved in his recent hospital visit. Instead, he says, the cause of concern was

an ear infection…

“He was hospitalized per doctor’s orders with a serious ear infection,” Solters says. “He is back taping ‘Anger Management’ today.”

The rep’s report from the field contradicts the story that many gossip blogs are running with.

Word around the Internet sewing circle is that Sheen had fallen off the bandwagon and gone back to his hardballer ways, smoking crack and snorting cocaine.

The initial report can be sourced back to gossip site, RadarOnline.com, where an unidentified source revealed the details of Charlie's supposed return to the fiend.

"For at least the last eight months or so Charlie has been having a quarter to half an ounce of cocaine delivered to him every single day and was spending nearly $2,000 a day on drugs,” the source said, adding, “sometimes he'd even get two to three quarters of cocaine in one day.”

While the story might be easy to believe for some skeptics, it is the polar opposite from what the small screen icon has been projecting in recent months.

In fact, other than the occasional announcement of a new role (e.g. The President of the United States in Robert Rodriguez’ sequel Machete Kills) or the brief, but attention grabbing stir-ups (e.g. not being let back into the Staples Center during a Stanley Cup smoke break), the actor has been all but void from headlines.

Charlie’s rep has obviously heard the new drug reports about his client but refuses to give it the time of day, saying he is “not going to dignify the Radar Online item with a response.”
