Fans were outraged when Chad Michael Murray announced he wouldn’t be returning to One Tree Hill next season. But luckily, the CW has ordered up another hottie to take his place.

Robert Buckley, whom you may know from the cancelled Lipstick Jungle, has officially joined the cast. It’s perfect timing, since his show just got the boot! Robert should thank Chad for leaving when he did!

In the upcoming seventh season of this show, Buckley will play Clayton, a young sports agent who represents Nathan Scott (played by James Lafferty). Throughout the season, Clayton will become a close friend, business partner and advisor to him.

Believe it or not, Brian Austin Green was initially in talks for the role early on, but a deal couldn’t be reached. Seems surprising, since Green should realistically be taking any role he can get at this point.

Robert doesn’t have the best track record on shows. Not only did Lipstick Jungle get cancelled, but so did Privileged, which he guest-starred on as well. Hopefully he won’t curse One Tree Hill too!

Chad Michael Murray’s name is pretty much synonymous with One Tree Hill. So it’s surprising to hear that he’s leaving the show that really put him on the map! And he’s not the only series regular who’s leaving—Hilarie Burton is bidding the CW show adieu as well.

According to EW, Chad and Hilarie, whose characters tied the knot in last night’s episode, are leaving because of contract disputes that couldn’t be worked out, and the two will be leaving the show after next Monday’s season finale.

The network intends to announce the news of their two main characters leaving at next week’s upfronts. And show insiders say that two new characters will be introduced to fill the void.

Murray and Burton probably want to explore other options, and take on movie roles. But they should be warned that it’s no easy feat. Look at Mischa Barton! After begging to get killed off The O.C. in 2006, she finds herself right back where she started, on television.

According to network execs, the CW hasn’t even decided if they’ll bring the show back for its 7th season next year, saying, "The network hasn’t yet ordered a 7th season and the studio is in early negotiation stages with the actors, just in case the network decides to bring us back. In other words, NOTHING has been decided yet.”

Do you think this is a good decision for Chad Michael Murray and Hilarie Burton? Will you still watch the show without them?
