Chace Crawford To Take Over Role In Footloose Remake

Chace Crawford may be getting Zac Efron’s sloppy seconds! Last week, Zac announced he was dropping out of the film because he wanted to do less musicals, and more films like 17 Again, which he just finished.

A source tells E!’s Marc Malkin that Gossip Girl Chace Crawford may be taking over the role in the remake. He reportedly wowed Paramount Studios bosses with his conviction and fancy footwork during a recent screen test for the lead. The source adds, “He did really well.”

This isn’t too surprising, since once we got word Zac was out, the buzz all over town was to get Chace attached. Who else in Hollywood has those boyish looks?

Only question now is can Chace Crawford sing and dance? Zac had that in the bag. We’ll find out soon enough!
