Celine Dion is very excited about her pregnancy, and the fact that was able to conceive via in vitro fertilization. Apparently the embryo has been frozen for eight years!
Celine’s doctor, Dr. Zev Rosenwalks tells
People she’s “very excited” about the news. He says, "You could hear her chuckling. She was very happy. So was René. They are both very thankful."
So why has the embryo been frozen eight years? Celine had them frozen when she went through IVF while trying to conceive her first child, Rene-Charles, who was born in 2001.
After Celine completed her Vegas residency in 2007, she had the embryos transferred back because she was ready for baby #2! And two years later, she’s gotten her wish!
Freezing embryos for that amount of time poses no threat to the baby. Dr. Rosen walks tells
People, "There have been embryos that have been [frozen] for more than 10 years, and even more than 15 years, that have successfully thawed and resulted in a pregnancy.”
As for the mom-to-be, her doctor says, "She is feeling well. So far, so good. I look forward to hearing the fetal heartbeat. René and Céline are both looking forward to pregnancy that is a healthy one. There is no question she is ecstatic."
