Heifer International hosted charity dinner “Beyond Hunger: A Place at the Table” last week, which brought out famous faces like Jane Fonda, Eva Amurri Martino, Allison Janney, and Jon Heder.
Proceeds from this star studded gala benefitted Heifer International, whose mission is to end hunger and poverty, or as President and CEO Pierre Ferrari puts it, “[change] begins with food security, income and assets, but the destination is equality, access, and most of all, full participation.”
Eva Amurri sums up the philanthropy the best:
“What Heifer does is they give livestock to families in need, instead of just giving a handout, they give them something that will help give them the building blocks for their future,” says Eva, before adding, “For our wedding, instead of guest favors, we donated on behalf of each and every guest to Heifer.”
The event honored the work of actress Mary Steenburgen and Ted Danson for their contributions to the charity.
Guests at the event were treated to performances by Colbie Caillat, a speech from Jon Heder (“Napoleon Dynamite”), and a gracious Jane Fonda taking over as host for the evening (filling in for Diane Lane).
